October was an eventful month for photography students at FX School.  They were the fortunate recipients of two exclusiveand unique seminars conducted by accomplished and distinctive photography professionals.

The first, held on the 4^th of October, was an Underwater Photography seminar by Sumer Verma was quite possibly the 1^st such educational event in India!

Sumer Verma is a pioneering Indian underwater photographer and videographer who has shot editorials for Vogue and Conde Nast Traveller, advertisements for Channel V and wildlife videography for Dusty Foot Productions among other notable clients. Spectacular underwater photographs and videos wowed students.Apart from an enlightening insight into the photography techniques behind the amazing images, the highlight of the seminar was getting to examineSumer’s cool (and expensive) underwater photography gear.

The second seminar, held on the 17^th of October was by American documentary photographer Craig Semetko whose book, UNPOSED,published in 2010, received acclaim for it’s humorous and insightful images photographed across many countries around the world.Unsurprisingly, this seminar had everyone in splits. Craig shared many stories and, in true educational spirit of knowledge sharing, gave away many of the techniques and tricks he employs to capture images in his very own distinctive style.  He also gave students a sneak peak at some of the images that would be published in his forthcoming book and photographs shot in India for an upcoming exhibition.

The response to both the seminars was overwhelming. The photography studio at FX School was packed with a standing room only crowd on both occasions; and the speakers were inundated with questions by students long after the seminars “officially” got over.
